SSG Kennith W. Mayne, 29, U.S. Army, born in California May 29, 1979, was killed in action on September 4, 2008. Mayne was an Infantryman with 101st Airborne Division and was part of the initial U.S. invasion of Operation Iraqi Freedom. He then became an Armor Crewman redeployed to Iraq with 66th Armor Regiment, 4th Infantry Division. While on a patrol in Baghdad, his Humvee was hit by an IED. Mayne and one of his brothers-in-arms did not survive the blast. For his service, he earned a Purple Heart and the Bronze Star. Rest easy, Hero! Til Valhalla, Brother!
