SP4 Delbert C. LaFlemme, 21, U.S. Army, born in Oregon August 24, 1943, was
killed in action on October 7, 1964. LaFlemme was a Helicopter Mechanic in the
118th Attack Helicopter Company with MACV in Vietnam. While on a mission to
provide air cover for an ambushed Army of the Republic of Vietnam unit, his
helicopter took heavy fire from Viet Cong forces. After multiple strafing runs, the
Huey was shot down. There were no survivors. For his service, he earned a Purple
Heart with OLC and the Distinguished Flying Cross. Rest easy, Hero! Til Valhalla,
