SP4 Cecil A. Pemberton Sr., 78, U.S. Army, born October 5, 1945, passed away on November 7, 2023. Pemberton served as a Radio Operator with 4th Battalion, 60th Artillery Regiment in the Vietnam War. There, he provided artillery support to weaken enemy positions before and during battles. After the war, Pemberton returned home and joined the Polk City Police Department, where he quickly rose to the rank of Chief. Stern but fair, he was dedicated to protecting his town and became a true pillar of the community. Rest easy, Soldier! Til Valhalla, Brother!
