In Memory Of

Sheriff Deputy William R. Hunter, 26, Butte County Sheriff's Office, born
November 10, 1974, was killed in the line of duty on July 26, 2001. Hunter served
his community as a member of the Designated Area Deputy Team, focused on
preventing rural and agricultural crimes. He then earned his K-9 unit designation
and was about to begin patrolling with his dog, Ilo. Hunter took extreme pride in
his job as a peace officer. He truly made a difference in his community and has a
highway named in his honor. Rest easy; We have the watch now! Til Valhalla,
Brother!
