SGT Gordon E. Jones, 74, U.S. Army, born in Washington November 12, 1946,
passed away on June 17, 2021. Jones served as an Infantryman with 1st Squadron,
9th Cavalry Regiment, in the Vietnam War. As part of the 1st Cavalry Division
(Airmobile), his unit used helicopters to fly into hostile areas and engage enemy
forces much quicker than foot patrols in the jungle. Jones was no fan of bordom.
When he wasn't at work, he enjoyed camping, fishing, and high-octane drag
racing. For his service, he earned a Purple Heart. Rest easy, Hero! Til Valhalla,
