SGT Allen C. Sheline, 23, U.S. Army, born October 22, 1944, was killed in action on
July 18, 1968. Sheline was an Armor Crewman with 1st Squadron, 11th Armored
Cavalry Regiment in Vietnam. While conducting a recon mission, his unit was
ambushed by NVA forces. Sheline jumped on the machine gun of his tank,
exposing himself to small arms fire, and laid down a barrage of lead to eliminate
enemy anti-tank teams until he was hit by an RPG. For his service, he earned a
Purple Heart and the Bronze Star with "V" device. Rest easy, Hero! Til Valhalla,
