PO1 Gerald A. Kester, 64, U.S. Navy, born in California March 21, 1958, passed
away from cancer on December 20, 2022. Kester was first a Gunner's Mate
Technician aboard the USS Kitty Hawk (CV-63) during the Iranian hostage crisis.
He then worked on Trident missile systems for the USS Ohio (SSGN-726) before
transferring to the USS Acadia (AD-42). His last assignment was as supervisor of
the weapons department on the USS Prairie (AD-15), ensuring the vessel was
always ready for a weapons deployment. Fair winds and following seas, Shipmate!
