PFC Eric D. Soufrine, 20, U.S. Army, born October 16, 1990, was killed in action on
June 14, 2011. Soufrine served as a Fire Support Specialist with 4th Battalion,
42nd Field Artillery Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, and
deployed to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. While
conducting a mounted patrol in Farah province, he passed away when the vehicle
he was riding in was struck by an IED. For his service, Soufrine was posthumously
awarded a Purple Heart and the Bronze Star. Rest easy, Hero! Til Valhalla, Brother!
