LCpl Eldon E. Lambert, 20, U.S.M.C., born in North Carolina September 15, 1946, was killed in action on May 14, 1967. Lambert served as a Rifleman with 1st Battalion, 9th Marine Regiment, 3rd Marine Division and deployed to fight the spread of Communism in Vietnam. While conducting a combat operation in Quảng Trị, his unit engaged in a firefight with enemy forces. During the battle, Lambert passed away after being hit by grenade shrapnel and small arms fire.
