Fire Chief David M. Grim Jr., 34, North Mountain Volunteer Fire & Rescue (NMVFD), born in Virginia October 31, 1968, lost the battle within on July 7, 2003. Wanting to protect his community, Grim joined the NMVFD at 15 and needed his mom to drive him to his first fire. He served as a Pump Operator, EMT, and was Chief of the Department by the time he was 26. Grim was a dedicated first responder with a big heart. To honor his service, an annual toy drive he started to help families now bears his name. Rest easy; We have the watch now! Til Valhalla, Brother!
