In Memory Of

CPL Richard A. Lawrence, 21, U.S. Army, born in Michigan April 26, 1945, was
killed in action on February 16, 1967. Lawrence was an Infantryman with 1st
Battalion, 22nd Infantry Regiment, 4th Infantry Division in Vietnam. While on
patrol, his unit was ambushed by NVA forces. Under heavy fire, he left cover and
took out three enemy positions, allowing for the rescue of his wounded
squadmates. Lawrence kept carrying men to safety until he was mortally wounded
by enemy fire. He earned a Purple Heart and the Bronze Star with "V" device. Rest
