COL Benjamin S. Mortara Jr., 81, U.S. Army, born in California June 17, 1926, passed away on November 25, 2007. After earning a law degree, Mortara was a Legal Assistance Officer and then Chief Military Justice at HQ Area Command in Germany. He returned to the U.S. and joined the 5th JAG Detachment. Mortara then went into private practice as a partner in law firms dedicated to taxation and probate laws. His devotion to justice brought him high-profile cases which he argued before the California and U.S. Supreme Court. Rest easy, Soldier! Til Valhalla, Brother!
