Cpl Nicholas O. Cherava, 21, U.S.M.C., born in Michigan January 5, 1984, was
killed in action on October 6, 2005. Cherava served with 2nd Battalion, 2nd Marine
Regiment, 2nd Marine Division and deployed to the Middle East in support of
Operation Iraqi Freedom. On his second tour of duty, his unit was conducting a
combat operation near Al Karma when his Humvee was struck by an IED. Cherava
and three of his brothers-in-arms did not survive the blast. For his service, he was
posthumously awarded a Purple Heart. Semper Fi, Marine! Til Valhalla, Brother!
