1LT Heyward H. Fellers, 23, U.S. Army, born July 22, 1921, was killed in action on April 4, 1945. In WWII, Fellers was an Infantryman with 13th Infantry Battalion, 8th Infantry Division, fighting from France to Germany under General Patton and General Hodges. After pushing the Nazis back across the Rhine, his unit was ordered to destroy the last few holdouts in the Ruhr pocket. During the attack, Fellers was shot by a sniper and died on the battlefield. For his service, he earned a Purple Heart and the Bronze Star. Rest easy, Hero! Til Valhalla, Brother!
