A Living Tribute to Those Who Serve
Every May, Armed Forces Day appears on our calendars — but at Til Valhalla Project, it holds much more than a date. It’s a national opportunity to pause, reflect, and give thanks to the men and women who wear the uniform today. We Honor those who are currently standing guard over our freedom, both at home and around the world.
In a culture that often races from one day to the next, Armed Forces Day reminds us to look up, raise a flag, and say thank you to those who never stop serving, even when no one’s watching.
The History and Meaning Behind Armed Forces Day
Armed Forces Day was first established in 1949, shortly after the unification of the U.S. military under the Department of Defense. Instead of having separate holidays to recognize each branch, the Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force, and later, the Space Force, Armed Forces Day was created to Honor them all together, as one united force.
It’s held annually on the third Saturday in May and is part of the larger Armed Forces Week. Unlike Memorial Day, which remembers the Fallen, or Veterans Day, which recognizes prior service, this day is specifically for those actively serving — the Soldiers, Sailors, Marines, Airmen, Guardians, and Coast Guardsmen who are currently defending our country.
These are the men and women whose boots are still in the sand. Whose hands still carry the weight of responsibility. Whose families still wait for them to come home.
On Armed Forces Day, we don’t just recognize military service, we recognize active service. The kind that continues while most of the world sleeps.
Why This Day Matters Now More Than Ever
We know the cost of service doesn’t start with loss, it starts the moment someone takes the oath. And while our mission is rooted in Honoring the Fallen and supporting Veterans, we also recognize the ongoing sacrifice of those who are still wearing the uniform.
Today’s armed forces face immense pressure, long separations from loved ones, intense physical and emotional stress, and the burden of upholding generations of legacy. Yet they show up, not for fame, not for recognition, but because they believe in something greater than themselves.
That’s why Armed Forces Day matters. It’s not a commercial holiday. It’s not a long weekend. It’s a moment for this country to stand still and say: We see you. We appreciate you. We are grateful you serve.
OUR MISSION: To Honor All Who Serve — Past, Present, and Future
While our mission focuses heavily on the remembrance of Fallen Heroes and mental health support for Veterans, none of this exists without the brave men and women currently serving. Every active-duty member represents the next chapter of this story: The next Hero, the next leader, the next legacy.
We believe in Honoring the full journey of service, from the first salute to the final farewell. That includes those who are still in the fight today.
So this Armed Forces Day, we ask that you take a moment:
To remember.
To thank someone in uniform.
To fly your flag a little higher.
And to never take for granted the people who make freedom possible.
Our mission is to Honor Fallen Military and First Responders by surprise-delivering memorials to their families, funded by apparel that motivates, pays tribute, and raises awareness, all while actively donating to reduce Veteran suicide.
