WO1 Thomas P. Doody, 22, U.S. Army, born July 29, 1948, was killed in action on February 8, 1971. Doody served as a UH-1 Huey pilot with the 158th Assault Helicopter Battalion, 101st Aviation Group, 101st Airborne Division, in Vietnam. While returning from an insertion mission to drop off South Vietnamese troops in Laos, his helicopter was shot down by enemy ground fire. Doody and three crew members passed away in the crash. For his service, he earned a Purple Heart, the Bronze Star, and the Distinguished Flying Cross. Rest easy, Hero! Til Valhalla, Brother!
