In Memory OfTSgt Colie L. Richardson

TSgt Colie L. Richardson, 26, U.S. Army, born March 23, 1918, was killed in action on June 24, 1944. Richardson was an Infantryman with 8th Infantry Regiment, 4th Infantry Division in WWII. He was one of the first men ashore in the Normandy Invasion and helped secure Utah Beach. During the Battle for Cherbourg, his unit was attempting to capture the German-held port city when they came under fire. During the assault, Richardson passed away when an explosive detonated next to him. For his service, he earned a Purple Heart. Rest easy, Hero! Til Valhalla, Brother!
