TEC 5 William C. Blackwell, 24, U.S. Army, born August 8, 1919, was killed in action on June 14, 1944. Blackwell served with 12th Infantry Regiment, 4th Infantry Division in WWII. After securing Normandy Beach, his unit pushed inland. As they advanced, a firefight erupted in Montebourg, and they were sent in as reinforcements. During the hellacious engagement, he was killed by enemy fire, but the efforts of men like Blackwell led to victory, not just in that battle, but in the entire war. For his service, he earned a Purple Heart. Rest easy, Hero! Til Valhalla, Brother!
