TSgt Leslie C. McAllan, 26, U.S. Army, born in Wisconsin June 2, 1918, was killed in action on July 26, 1944. McAllan was an Infantryman with 2nd Infantry Regiment, 5th Infantry Division in WWII. His unit was tasked with capturing a crucial defensive position in Vidouville, Hill 183. McAllan and his men charged into town, and a brutal battle began. The mission was successful, but he was mortally wounded. Without men like McAllan, the U.S. flag wouldn't have flown atop Hill 183. For his service, he earned a Purple Heart. Rest easy, Hero!
