SSgt Robert A. Smith, 85, U.S. Air Force, born May 31, 1939, passed away on July 12, 2024. Smith was a Morse Intercept Operator with Detachment 3, 6933rd Radio Group Mobile of "The U.S. Logistics Group." During the Cold War, he was stationed in Turkey and spent long hours intercepting foreign military transmissions and analyzing them for information about potential Soviet threats. Smith was a natural-born leader who commanded great respect. His strong work ethic and unyielding loyalty never failed to inspire those around him. Fly high, Airman! Til Valhalla, Brother!
