SSG Sheldon W. Hicks, 19, U.S. Army, born December 17, 1949, was killed in action on June 7, 1969. Hicks served as an Infantry Indirect Fire Crewman with 8th Battalion, 6th Artillery Regiment in Vietnam. While stationed at the Lai Khê Base Camp in the Bình Dương Province, he was riding with another soldier on a routine trip between batteries when the vehicle he was riding in drove over a landmine.
