In Memory OfSSG Leo Wlodarczyk

February 2, 1913 - December 25, 1975

SSG Leo Wlodarczyk, 62, U.S. Army, born in Pennsylvania February 2, 1913, passed away from health complications on December 25, 1975. Wlodarczyk served as Squad Leader with 12th Infantry Regiment, 4th Infantry Division, and deployed to the European Theater of WWII. During the Normandy Invasion, he was one of the first men off the boats when they landed on Utah Beach. After fighting through the largest amphibious invasion in history, Wlodarczyk's unit continued east to break through the German lines and push the Third Reich out of France. During Operation Cobra, he was severely wounded, causing an affliction that plagued him for the rest of his life. Despite his injuries, Wlodarczyk never gave up, never quit, and didn't let his pain get in the way of achieving his goals in life, no matter how lofty they may have seemed. He is remembered as a hard-working family man who never asked others to do what he wouldn't do himself. For his service, Wlodarczyk earned a Purple Heart. Rest easy, Hero! Til Valhalla, Brother!
