SSG Keith Maupin, 24, U.S. Army, born in Ohio July 13, 1983, was killed in action on March 21, 2008, declared MIA on April 16, 2004. Maupin was a Motor Transport Operator with 724th Transportation Company and deployed for Operation Iraqi Freedom. While on a refueling mission, Insurgents ambushed his convoy and he was taken captive. Maupin was listed as MIA for four years, but on March 21, 2008, his body was identified via DNA and he was laid to rest in his hometown. For his service, he earned a Purple Heart, the POW Medal, and the Bronze Star. Rest easy, Hero! Til Valhalla, Brother!
