In Memory OfSSG Jerry L. Bonifacio Jr.

SSG Jerry L. Bonifacio Jr., 28, U.S. Army, born May 13, 1977, was killed in action on October 10, 2005. Bonifacio was an Infantryman with 1st Battalion, 184th Infantry Regiment in Iraq. There, he was tasked with guarding a checkpoint that led into the Green Zone. After a U.S. convoy passed through, a vehicle tried to follow. As he ordered the driver to stop for an inspection, the insurgent detonated a large explosive, taking the lives of Bonifacio and his interpreter. For his service, he earned a Purple Heart and the Bronze Star. Rest easy, Hero! Til Valhalla, Brother!
