In Memory OfSSG James E. Haynes
April 30, 1942 - November 22, 1967
SSG James E. Haynes, 26, U.S. Army, born April 30, 1942, was killed in action in Vietnam on November 22, 1967. A staff sergeant from Vincennes, Indiana, Haynes had earned the rank where the Army stops asking a man to follow and expects him to lead, and he was leading soldiers in one of the deadliest months of that war when he fell. He was single, with a whole life still ahead of him. Nearly sixty years on, his family still calls him their hero. He is survived by his brother, Owen, and generations who never forgot. Rest easy, Soldier! Til Valhalla, Brother!
