In Memory OfSSG Eldridge W. Allen Sr.

SSG Eldridge W. Allen Sr., 35, U.S. Army, born October 9, 1944, passed away on August 18, 1980. Allen was a Combat Engineer with the 87th Engineer Battalion in Vietnam. While landing on a beach in Cam Ranh Bay, his unit was ambushed. Allen left cover to direct machine gun fire until the enemy retreated. Next, he was assigned to the 1st Special Forces Group (Airborne), supporting operations with MACV so covert that they remain classified to this day. For his service, Allen was awarded the Bronze Star with "V" device. Rest easy, Hero! Til Valhalla, Brother!
