SPC John A. Martinez Jr., 40, U.S. Army, born in Germany January 3, 1980, lost the battle within on March 18, 2020. Martinez began his service with 4th Infantry Division and was stationed at Fort Carson. During the War on Terror, he deployed to Afghanistan to fight Al-Qaeda and the Taliban in Operation Enduring Freedom. Martinez enjoyed hiking, going to medieval reenactment events, or just hanging out with friends and family around a bonfire. But more than anything, he loved spending time with his wife and four sons. Rest easy, Soldier! Til Valhalla, Brother!
