SPC Joaquin Pereira Jr., 25, U.S. Army, born in Massachusetts August 20, 1988, lost the battle within on October 1, 2013. Pereira was an Infantryman with 182nd Infantry Regiment, 26th Infantry Division, and deployed twice in support of Operations Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom. He then served in the National Guard as an MP with 747th MP Company, 26th Infantry Division. Pereira is remembered as a patriotic man with a big heart. He enjoyed going fishing, shooting pool, and watching his Boston Bruins hit the ice. Rest easy, Soldier! Til Valhalla, Brother!
