SP5 George R. Sherman Jr., 73, U.S. Army, born February 17, 1947, in Middletown, New York, passed away from health complications on November 17, 2020. George was inducted into the Army in 1966, serving as a Cook (MOS 94B) with HHC, 2nd Battalion, 16th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division, in Vietnam. He was honorably separated as a Specialist Five in 1968. After his service, Sherman built a 43-year career with A&P Supermarkets, retiring as a store manager. His true passion was the outdoors; he hunted and fished every spare moment, a love passed down from his father and shared with his son, George III. He maintained a hunting club with high school friends for over fifty years, a testament to his enduring faithfulness. Sherman is survived by his wife, Sara, and son, George III. Rest easy, Soldier!
