In Memory OfSP4 Ray M. Rutan
May 27, 1949 - November 26, 2024
SP4 Ray M. Rutan, 75, U.S. Army, born May 27, 1949, in Waynesburg, Pennsylvania, passed away unexpectedly on November 26, 2024. Ray enlisted in the Army during the Vietnam War, a decision he made with quiet conviction, serving his country with a steady dignity that never left him. After his service, Ray built a life in Greene County as a self-employed contractor for 43 years, a testament to his deep competence and responsibility. He was a lifetime member of the Waynesburg American Legion Post 330 and VFW Post 4793, and championed the Wall of Honor at the Carmichaels Senior Center, ensuring other veterans were remembered. He loved the outdoors, fishing, hunting, and digging ginseng, and in his later years, discovered a joy for dancing. Ray was fishing, doing what he loved most, when he passed. Rest easy, Soldier! Til Valhalla, Brother!
