SP4 & Fire Marshal Frederick E. Chaplin, 72, U.S. Army, Florida, born in Indiana
December 5, 1946, passed away on May 6, 2019. After serving in Vietnam as a
Combat Engineer with 9th Infantry Division, Chaplin became a member of the
Kokomo F.D. He protected his community for 20 years and rose to the rank of
Battalion Chief. Chaplin then became Florida's District Bureau Chief State Fire
Marshal until retiring in 2014. For his service, he earned a Purple Heart with one
oak leaf cluster. Rest easy, Hero; We have the watch now! Til Valhalla, Brother!
