SMSgt Matthew H. King, 38, U.S. Air Force, born August 17, 1986, lost the battle within on December 5, 2024. King served as a Payload Specialist 109 Airlift Wing and deployed for Operation Enduring Freedom. In Afghanistan, he was tasked with coordinating with ground crews and flight engineers to sync cargo operations across hostile zones. King enjoyed martial arts, riding his motorcycle, and was a gifted practical joker. He was a true protector, so in addition to his military service, he was a Volunteer Firefighter in his hometown.
