SgtMaj Rex D. Hoffmeister, 73, U.S. Marine Corps, born November 20, 1950, passed away from health complications on October 5, 2024. Hoffmeister served in Vietnam as an infantryman with 2/7 Marines, earning the Navy Commendation Medal with Combat "V," then spent two decades as embassy detachment commander in Lagos and Madrid, Desert Storm veteran, and SOCMAU training overseer. Outside the Corps, he restored antiques; fitting for a man who spent his career rebuilding and maintaining everything the Marine Corps needed to fight. He is survived by his wife Janet and two children. Semper Fidelis. Til Valhalla, Brother.
