SGT Ronald A. Kubik, 21, U.S. Army, born June 22, 1988, was killed in action April 23, 2010. Kubik served with 3rd Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment in Afghanistan. While tracking a high-value target in a civilian area, his unit came under fire. Kubik quickly stood between 29 women and children and engaged the enemy. Despite being hit seven times, he continued to fight and protect the non-combatants until the Taliban Insurgent cowered away. For his service, Kubik earned a Purple Heart, the Bronze Star, and the Silver Star. Rest easy, Hero! Til Valhalla, Brother!
