SGT Matthew R. Soper, 25, Michigan Army National Guard, born July 27, 1981, Killed in Action (KIA) on June 6, 2007. Soper served with the 1461st Transportation Company (Combat Heavy Equipment) and previously the 1462nd Transportation Company. He completed two tours during Operation Iraqi Freedom, with his second tour ending approximately two months after his passing. Matthew was charismatic, funny, and loved being outdoors, hunting, and fishing with his family. For his service, he was awarded a Bronze Star Medal and a Purple Heart. Rest Easy, Soldier!
