In Memory OfSgt Lyle D. Rogers

January 13, 1921 - March 4, 1954

Sgt Lyle D. Rogers, 33, U.S.M.C., born January 13, 1921, passed away from a heart attack on March 4, 1954. Rogers was a Postal Clerk with 2nd Defense Battalion, 2nd Marine Division in the Pacific Theater of WWII. After the initial assaults in the battles at Tarawa and Saipan, he established a temporary mail-handling area. From there, Rogers handled essential administrative paperwork, but more importantly, kept his Division feel connected to their loved ones by ensuring they received letters and packages from home. Semper Fi, Marine! Til Valhalla, Brother!
