In Memory OfSgt Lonny D. Wells

Sgt Lonny D. Wells, 29, U.S.M.C., born January 10, 1975, was killed in action on November 9, 2004. Wells served as an Infantry Unit Leader with 1st Battalion, 8th Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division and deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. During the second Battle of Fallujah, his unit was sent to capture an enemy position. While leading his team through the chaotic city streets to complete their objective, Wells passed away when he was struck by an Al-Qaeda sniper. For his service, he earned a Purple Heart.
