In Memory OfSGT John W. Smith

SGT John W. Smith, 72, U.S. Army, born February 7, 1951, passed away on November 30, 2023. Smith was an Indirect Fire Crewman with 3rd Battalion, 21st Infantry Regiment in Vietnam. He was chosen to be part of Task Force Gimlet, conducting patrols, security operations, and supporting South Vietnamese forces as the last U.S. combat unit remaining in-country. Smith enjoyed working on cars, fishing at Lake Anna, and was a talented musician. He is remembered as a humble but proud man with unyielding devotion to his family and friends. Rest easy, Soldier!
