Sgt Jeremy R. McQueary, 27, U.S.M.C., born in Indiana January 28, 1983, was killed in action on February 18, 2010. McQueary was a Motor Vehicle Operator with 2nd Combat Engineer Battalion, 2nd Marine Division, and deployed for Operations Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom. While in Marjeh, his unit was searching local compounds and bazaars for enemy weapons caches. McQueary passed away when he opened a door and triggered an IED. For his service, he earned a Purple Heart and has a bridge named in his honor. Semper Fi, Marine! Til Valhalla, Brother!
