In Memory OfSgt George T. Griffiths

Sgt George T. Griffiths, 19, U.S. Army Air Corps, born June 20, 1924, passed away in a plane crash on October 1, 1943. Griffiths served as a B-24D Liberator Flight Engineer with the 538th Bombardment Squadron, 382nd Bombardment Group during WWII. While returning from an over-water navigational training flight over the Pacific, his aircraft encountered low-visibility conditions. Relying solely on instruments, the bomber flew too low and crashed into a mountain. Griffiths and his entire crew did not survive the impact. Fly high, Airman! Til Valhalla, Brother!
