SGT David W. Johnson, 37, Oregon Army National Guard, born January 6, 1967, was killed in action on September 25, 2004. Johnson served as an Infantryman with 2nd Battalion, 162nd Infantry Regiment, 1st Cavalry Division in Iraq. His unit was tasked with convoy and infantry support operations throughout Baghdad. While conducting a mission to bring critical supplies to Camp Taji, Johnson was mortally wounded when an IED struck the Humvee he was manning the turret of. For his service, he earned a Purple Heart and the Bronze Star. Rest easy, Hero! Til Valhalla, Brother!
