In Memory OfSGT Darrell E. Walden

May 4, 1947 - April 7, 1969

SGT Darrell E. Walden, 21, U.S. Army, born May 4, 1947, was killed in action on April 7, 1969. Walden was an Infantryman with 25th Infantry Division in Vietnam. While on a recon mission, his unit entered a booby-trapped area and he was injured by a hidden grenade. While on the ground, Walden saw a rigged mortar shell. With no regard for himself, he dove on top of the trap before it went off and saved his squad's lives. For his service, Walden earned a Purple Heart, the Bronze Star, and the Distinguished Service Cross. Rest easy, Hero! Til Valhalla, Brother!
