SGT Bruce E. Horner, 43, U.S. Army, born in New Jersey March 3, 1964, was killed in action on June 1, 2007. Horner served as an MP with 127th Military Police Company and deployed to Iraq. He was soon tasked with leading a high-stakes cordon and search mission to locate three U.S. soldiers who went missing in Baghdad. As they entered the neighborhood of Seddah, his squad was ambushed by insurgents. During the brutal engagement, Horner fell when he was hit by a sniper. For his service, he earned a Purple Heart and the Bronze Star. Rest easy, Hero! Til Valhalla, Brother!
