SGT Benjamin J. Laymon, 22, U.S. Army, born in Ohio November 15, 1983, was killed in action on June 24, 2006. Laymon served as a Fire Support Specialist with 1st Battalion, 10th Cavalry Regiment, 4th Infantry Division and deployed twice in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. While conducting a dismounted patrol near Baghdad, his unit was ambushed by insurgent forces. During the intense firefight, an IED was detonated, taking the lives of Laymon and a fellow Buffalo Soldier. For his service, he earned a Purple Heart and the Bronze Star. Rest easy, Hero!
