SFC John I. Cook, 24, U.S. Army, born July 9, 1942, was killed in action on January 29, 1967. Cook served as a Light Weapons Infantryman with 3rd Battalion, 21st Infantry Regiment, 196th Light Infantry Brigade in Vietnam. While on a search-and-destroy mission in Tây Ninh Province, his unit was attacked by a large group of Viet Cong troops, and a hellacious battle began. Til Valhalla, Brother!
