SFC & Deputy Sheriff William H. Butler Jr., 51, MI Army National Guard, Hillsdale County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO), born January 16, 1973, died in the line of duty on June 27, 2024. Butler served one combat tour in Iraq before joining the HCSO. He protected his county as a road deputy, conducting stops, making arrests, and through community outreach. In addition to his patrol duties, Butler also mentored new Deputies, giving them the skills needed to serve the people of Hillsdale County that they don't learn in the academy. Rest easy, Hero!
