Sergeant Cornelius J. Douglas, 56, New York City Police Department, born February 26, 1965, passed away from cancer on June 24, 2021. Across 35 years with the Transit Police and NYPD, Douglas hunted fugitives and rose to supervise a Detective Squad, answering the call to Ground Zero after 9/11. A devoted Batman fan and true "cop's cop," he mentored countless officers, later taught criminal justice, and met everyone with kindness and a ready smile. He retired just a month before his passing and is survived by Karen, his wife of 23 years. Rest easy; We have the watch now! Til Valhalla, Brother!
