S1/c Frank J. Francis, 19, U.S. Naval Reserve, born December 20, 1925, in Leavittsburg, Ohio, was lost in service on January 7, 1945. Frank was just sixteen when he enlisted in the Naval Reserve in November 1942, eager to serve his country during World War II. He reenlisted in May 1944, becoming a Seaman First Class. His service led him to the waters near Puerto Rico, where he was reported missing and declared lost at sea. Frank, a single man with no children, is memorialized on the Tablets of the Missing at the East Coast Memorial in New York City. He is remembered by his family, who ensure his legacy lives on.
