PVT William G. Gray, 32, U.S. Army, born October 11, 1911, was killed in action on September 14, 1944. Gray served with the 109th Infantry Regiment, 28th Infantry Division in WWII. After the Normandy landings, he was sent east to help eliminate the German presence in Belgium. While preparing for what would be the Battle of the Hürtgen Forest, his unit encountered a large Nazi force. During the brutal firefight, Gray passed away when he was hit by shrapnel from an enemy mortar. For his service, he earned a Purple Heart. Rest easy, Hero! Til Valhalla, Brother!
