PVT Robert D. Booker, 22, U.S. Army, born in Nebraska July 11, 1920, was killed in action on April 9, 1943. In WWII, Booker was an Infantryman with 34th Infantry Division and deployed to Africa. During a battle in Tunisia, he carried a light machine gun and a box of ammo 200 yards of open ground toward hostile positions. Booker was hit by enemy fire as he took out a machine gun team but kept advancing until he was mortally wounded while attempting to eliminate a second position. For his service, he earned the Medal of Honor. Rest easy, Hero! Til Valhalla, Brother!
